Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur was founded on September 01, 2016 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh with the aim to make it a leading residential university and to develop it as a Centre of Excellence with focus on Research & Development and incubation in the field of Engineering, Technology and others.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Programmes

1. The candidate must have clearly passed (10 + 2) qualifying examination from U.P. Board or its equivalent from any other recognized Board / University with a minimum of five subjects in which Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects from Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology/Computer Science as Technical Vocational subjects.

2. Candidates must obtain at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in above three subjects. In addition, all other eligibility conditions for appearing in JEE (Mains) -2020 Examination shall be applicable to the candidates.

Basis of admission

The University shall conduct its own counselling on the basis of merit in JEE (Mains) examination.

Online Counselling Procedure

(a) A student may register himself / herself by depositing online a Registration Fee of Rs. 2500=00 (non-refundable). In case of seat allotment, a Seat Acceptance Fee of Rs. 20,000=00 for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 12,000=00 for SC/ST candidates is to be paid online. After deposition of Seat Acceptance Fee, the candidate will be allowed for uploading scanned copies of all relevant documents for Online Document Verification. If the documents uploaded by the candidates are in order, he / she will be allowed to participate in the counselling process. In case, the candidate fails to upload his/her documents for Online document verification on prescribed date and time or fails to upload desired documents, his/her candidature will be cancelled. In such cases, Seat Acceptance Fee will be returned after a deduction of Rs. 5,000=00 for participation in one round of counselling.

(b) After successful online verification of documents, the candidate may choose ‘FREEZE’, ‘FLOAT’ or ‘WITHDRAWN’ options. If a candidate opts for ‘FREEZE’ option, the candidate will get the seat allotted to him/her and will be required to deposit the balanced Annual Academic Fee in the stipulated time period. Annual Academic Fee for B.Tech. programs is Rs. 1,35,000=00. This Academic Fee will increase by 10% every year of the degree program.

(c) If the candidate opts for ‘FLOAT’ option, the candidate will be allowed to have seat allotted to him / her with an option to move to the next round of counselling for upgradation of seat choice. For this, the candidate is required to deposit a ‘Float Option Fee’ of Rs. 20,000=00 for General / OBC candidates and Rs. 12,000=00 for SC / ST candidates. This fee is to be paid online within the stipulated time period. Otherwise, candidate will not be allowed to proceed further in the counselling process.

(d) If a candidate opts for ‘WITHDRAWN’ option, during 1st round of counselling, it indicates that the candidate is not interested to continue with the counselling process. In such cases, a sum of Rs. 5,000=00 will be deducted from his / her Seat Acceptance Fee and the balanced amount will be refunded in due course of time.

(e) If a candidate opts for ‘WITHDRAWN’ option during 2nd or 3rd round of counselling, a sum of Rs. 5,000=00 will be deducted from his / her Seat Acceptance Fee and complete Float Option Fee of Rs. 20,000=00 (for participation upto 2nd round) or Rs. 40,000=00 (for participation upto 3rd round) will be forfeited.

(f) Seat Acceptance Fee and Float Option Fee deposited by the candidate in different round of counselling will be adjusted towards the Annual Academic Fee in case of candidate taking admission at HBTU, Kanpur.

(g) If a candidate fails to report for Physical Registration as per government guidelines or leaves the University after completing all the formalities of admission or leaves the study mid-session, Academic fee deposited by the candidates will be forfeited and any request for withdrawal / refund will not be entertained under any circumstances.

c) The candidates can be given only one type of horizontal reservation out of UPFF / UPAF / UPPH. However, the Girl candidates can also claim for any one of UPFF / UPAF / UPPH along with UPGL.

Domicile requirements

(a) A Candidate who is a domicile of Uttar Pradesh, i.e. he / she has passed the 10+2 qualifying examination from Institution located in U.P., is eligible for counselling.

(b) In case, the candidate has passed qualifying examination from outside U.P., he / she has to upload Permanent Residence Certificate of his / her parents (Father or Mother).

(c) Candidates who are wards of Defence Personnel settled or posted in UP on the date of Entrance Examination of JEE (Mains) 2020 or Officers /Employees of All India Services belonging to UP Cadre are also eligible. They are required to upload Certificate No. 10 to claim the benefit.
